Arranged for band by G. F. Fuchs and performed at a memorial funeral service for the victims of the Nancy Affair, held on the Champ de Mars, 20 September 1790. The Overture to Demophon was considered “the most popular piece and the signature tune of the French Revolution.” The other work performed on this day was Gossec’s Marche Lugubre.
